The Sea

65 to 130 Km

The Veneto Sea is the ADRIATIC, a sea of extraordinary beauty. With over 17,000 living species, it is one of the areas of the planet with the greatest biodiversity.

It is a sea that in the northern part has particular environmental characteristics:

• flat and sandy coast

• presence of breakwater rocks arranged along the entire coast a few meters from the beach. The rocks have given shelter to many animals, allowing the formation of "environmental oases" for fish and invertebrates.

• low salinity due to the large contributions of fresh water from the numerous rivers that flow here.

The Adriatic in the Veneto part has well-known seaside resorts: Lido di Jesolo, Caorle, Bibione and Lido di Venezia.

Famous are the Venetian islands of Murano, for the craftsmanship of glass processing, Burano, for the ancient lacemaking, Torcello, for the cathedral of S. M. Assunta and the Lido for the headquarters of the Venice Film Festival
